Faculty and staff must have an accommodation plan on file with the Faculty/Staff Disability Services. They should notify their departments to request interpreters for department meetings, employment needs, etc. The department in which the deaf and hard of hearing  individual is employed is responsible for submitting an interpreter request to the University Interpreter Coordinator. 

Deaf and hard of hearing faculty or staff who are attending an event sponsored by another UNL department should contact the University department sponsoring the event to request interpreting services. 

For best outcomes, 3 weeks’ notice is preferred for most interpreting requests. Additional time is preferred for the performing arts. 

All requests are initiated by using the On-Campus Requisition (OCR) process.
