For Students
Reschedule & Cancel Exams
Exams are allowed to be rescheduled within the Alternative Testing Agreement (ATA) timeframe entered by the instructor. Per SSD Testing Center policy, if you need to reschedule an exam outside of the ATA timeframe, the SSD Testing Center needs written approval from your instructor that you will be taking the exam at another time as determined by both of you.
This guide is intended for students registered with Services for Students with Disabilities with alternative testing accommodations.
Steps to Access the AIM Student Portal:
- Open a web browser and go to https://bona.accessiblelearning.com/UNL/
- When directed, enter your NUID SSO login credentials.
- You will now see your Student Portal Dashboard / Overview Page.
Rescheduling Exams at the SSD Testing Center Using AIM:
- Find your My Dashboard / Overview page.
- On the left side of the page, locate the “Accommodations” navigation box and click “Alternative Testing”.
- Scroll down until you see “Upcoming Exams Scheduled” and select “View” next to the exam you want to reschedule.
- In the “Exam Request” tile, ensure that the correct exam appears in the “Exam Type” drop-down menu.
- Select the new date and/or time for when you would like to reschedule the exam.
- Rescheduling exams outside of the ATA timeframe require written permission from your instructor.
- Select the accommodations you need for the exam and click “Update Exam Request”.
Cancel an Exam at the SSD Testing Center Using AIM:
- Find your My Dashboard / Overview page.
- On the left side of the page, locate the “Accommodations” navigation box and click “Alternative Testing”.
- Scroll down until you see “Upcoming Exams Scheduled” and select “View” next to the exam you want to cancel.
- In the “Cancel Exam Request” tile, select the drop-down arrow if it is not already open.
- In the “Cancellation Reason” drop-down, select the reason for why you are cancelling.
- Select “Cancel Exam Request”.
Sharing Your Accommodation Plans
This guide provides text-based guidance on how to share your Accommodation Plan with your course instructors.
This guide is intended for students registered with Services for Students with Disabilities.
Steps to Access the AIM Student Portal:
- Open a web browser and go to https://bona.accessiblelearning.com/UNL/
- When directed, enter your NUID SSO login credentials.
- You will now see your Student Portal Dashboard / Overview Page.
Sharing Your Accommodation Plan to Instructors:
- Find your My Dashboard / Overview page.
- In the “Accommodation Requests” tile, click “Add Requests for Classes”.
- Under “Step: Select Courses”, select the boxes for the courses you need accommodations. Only courses you are enrolled in for the current term will be shown.
- If your courses do not appear the first time you log in, they will be uploaded from the registrar’s office within 24 hours of registering with our office.
- If you do not see your courses after 24 hours, contact our office at 402-472-3787.
- If you would like to apply the same accommodations for all your courses, select “Apply the same accommodations to all selected courses”.
- Click “Continue to Next Step”.
- Now you will see “Select Accommodations”. Select the boxes for the accommodations you need for each course.
- Check the last box detailing your next steps and click “Submit Request”.
- Schedule a time to meet with your instructors to discuss your accommodations, including testing accommodations.
Scheduling Exams Using AIM
This guide provides text-based guidance on how to schedule quizzes and exams at the SSD Testing Center. The SSD Testing Center proctors paper exams only. If you wish to take exams in the SSD Testing Center, please discuss this when you meet with your instructor to discuss your accommodations.
This guide is intended for students registered with Services for Students with Disabilities with alternative testing accommodations.
Steps to Access the AIM Student Portal:
- Open a web browser and go to https://bona.accessiblelearning.com/UNL/
- When directed, enter your NUID SSO login credentials.
- You will now see your Student Portal Dashboard / Overview Page.
Scheduling Quizzes and Exams at the SSD Testing Center Using AIM:
- Find your My Dashboard / Overview page.
- On the left side of the page, locate the “Accommodations” navigation box and click “Alternative Testing”.
- In the “Select Course” drop down menu, select the course for which you would like to schedule the exam.
- Click “Schedule Exam”.
- In the “Exam Request” tile, select the exam you’d like to schedule in “Available Exam Dates” dropdown menu.
- After selecting the exam, a box will appear with the date/time you are permitted to take the exam. The exam must be scheduled within the timeframe listed.
- Per SSD Testing Center policy, written approval from the instructor is needed for an exam can be taken at an alternate date/time outside of the approved timeframe.
- Complete the required fields.
- Date- date of the scheduled exam.
- Time- exam start time. Accommodations with extended testing time will automatically be calculated but only if extended time is available to be selected in the next section.
- Services Available- select the accommodations you need for the exam.
- Additional Notes- information to share with the SSD Testing Center proctors.
- Select “Add Exam Request”. A checkmark will appear at the top of the page when the exam is scheduled.
- If you do not see a checkmark, contact the SSD Testing Center at ssd-testing@unl.edu.
Viewing Scheduled Quizzes and Exams Using AIM:
- To view all your scheduled exams, select “Alternative Testing” under the “Accommodations” navigation box.
- Scroll down until you see “Upcoming Exams Scheduled” and your scheduled exams will be listed. Exams are listed in order by the date you take them with the soonest exams listed first.
For Faculty/Instructors
Creating an Alternative Testing Agreement
This guide provides text-based guidance on creating an Alternative Testing Agreement (ATA) for students to take their exams in the SSD Testing Center. The SSD Testing Center only proctors paper exams. The ATA replaces the previous procedure done through DocuSign.
This guide is intended for faculty and instructors working with students registered with Services for Students with Disabilities.
Steps to Access the AIM Instructor Portal:
- Open a web browser and go to https://bona.accessiblelearning.com/UNL/Instructor
- When directed, enter your NUID SSO login credentials.
- You will now see your Instructor Portal Dashboard / Overview Page.
Steps for Creating an Alternative Testing Agreement (ATA):
- After logging in, confirm you are on the “Overview” page.
- In the “Home” navigation box, select “Alternative Testing”.
- Select “Courses without Alternative Testing Agreement” in the “Alternative Testing Agreement” tile. You will now see the course/s without an ATA. Be sure that “Courses Without Alternative Testing Agreement” is displayed in the “Navigate to” dropdown menu.
- Find the course for which you want to create an ATA and select “Specify” next to the course name.
- Be sure the “Course Information” tile reflects the correct course. In the “List of Questions” tile, complete questions 1 and 2, materials students are allowed to use and how you would like completed exams to be returned to you. If you would like exams emailed back to you, please be sure to provide the name and email address of the person that should receive the completed exam(s).
- Enter your phone number into the “Contact Information” tile, which is used for SSD purposes only. Students will not be able to see this information.
- Select “Submit and Continue to Specify Exam Dates” below the tiles.
- Complete all required fields in the “Exam Detail” tile, including the type of exam (final, midterm, or quiz) and the date for which the exam is to be taken.
- If the exam can be taken on more than one day, include that in the “Approval Grace Period” fields.
- This does not need to be completed if students are to take the exam on one day only.
- If you would like the exam to be taken at a specific time, include that in the Time field.
- Enter the “Standard Length of Exam” (in minutes), not including extended time accommodations. AIM will automatically calculate the extended time based on the student’s accommodation.
- If you have any additional instructions or information that the SSD Testing Center needs, enter that in “Additional Note For Staff”.
- If you would like to upload the exam to AIM, this can be done in “Upload Exam File”. You will receive a notification that the exam was uploaded.
- Exams can also be emailed to the SSD Testing Center at ssd-testing@unl.edu or dropped off at the SSD Testing Center in LPH 116.
- The SSD Testing Center hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with extended hours during finals.
- Exams can be uploaded to AIM at any time. To do this, navigate to “Alternative Testing”, scroll down until you see the tile “Upcoming Exam File Upload” and complete the appropriate actions to submit the exam.
- Click “Save Exam Date” to complete the ATA.
- Please notify students that they have an exam to schedule in AIM.
Adding an Instructor
This guide provides text-based guidance on adding an instructor to your course that is not listed in the registrar. AIM syncs the primary instructor for a course from the registrar. However, there may be a need to add an additional instructor (e.g., lab managers, GTAs or TAs, mid-semester faculty changes, etc.). Please note that any changes made in AIM are not reflected nor changed in the registrar.

Steps to Access the AIM Instructor Portal:
- Open a web browser and go to https://bona.accessiblelearning.com/UNL/Instructor
- When directed, enter your NUID SSO login credentials.
- You will now see your Instructor Portal Dashboard / Overview Page.
Steps for Adding an Instructor to a Course in AIM:
- After logging in, confirm you are on the “Overview” page.
- In the “Home” navigation box, select “Add Instructor”.
- In the “Personal Information” tile, select the Class from the dropdown menu for which you would like to add the instructor.
- In the “Type” dropdown menu, select the appropriate option for the course.
- “Add Additional Instructor to the Course” will add an instructor/s and keep you as the primary instructor.
- “Replace All Instructors with the New Instructor” will add an instructor/s, making them the primary instructor and remove you as the primary instructor.
- Next, enter the new instructor’s name in “Instructor Name”.
- Lastly, enter their NU email address in “Email Address”.
- If they do not have an NU email address, please contact our office for further instructions.
Viewing Scheduled Exams
This guide provides text-based guidance on how to view scheduled exams for students enrolled in your course. These are for paper exams proctored by the SSD Testing Center.
This guide is intended for faculty and instructors working with students registered with Services for Students with Disabilities.
Steps to Access the AIM Instructor Portal:
- Open a web browser and go to https://bona.accessiblelearning.com/UNL/Instructor
- When directed, enter your NUID SSO login credentials.
- You will now see your Instructor Portal Dashboard / Overview Page.
Steps to View Scheduled Exams:
- After logging in, confirm you are on the “Overview” page.
- In the “Home” navigation box, select Alternative Testing.
- In the “Miscellaneous” tile, select “All Exams”. You will now see a list of students that have schedule their exam/s at the SSD Testing Center.
Copy and Modify an Alternative Testing Agreement
This guide provides text-based guidance on copying and modifying an Alternative Testing Agreement (ATA) for students to take their exams in the SSD Testing Center. The SSD Testing Center only proctors paper exams. The ATA replaces the previous procedure done through DocuSign.
This guide is intended for faculty and instructors working with students registered with Services for Students with Disabilities.
Steps to Access the AIM Instructor Portal:
- Open a web browser and go to https://bona.accessiblelearning.com/UNL/Instructor
- When directed, enter your NUID SSO login credentials.
- You will now see your Instructor Portal Dashboard / Overview Page.
Steps to Copy an Alternative Testing Agreement (ATA):
- After logging in, confirm you are on the “Overview” page.
- In the “Home” navigation box, select “Alternative Testing”.
- Select the number displayed after “Total Courses with Alternative Testing Agreement” in the “Alternative Testing Agreement” tile.
- Select “View” for the course you’d like to copy the ATA from.
- ATAs can only be copied for another section of the same course.
- A new ATA must be completed for each of your courses.
- Select “Copy Alternative Testing Agreement” from the top menu above the tiles.
- Select the course section to which you would like the ATA to be applied. Click “Continue”.
- Select if you would like the exam dates to be copied or update the dates/times for the exam/s for this section of the course.
- Click on “Copy Course Instruction Template”.
Steps to Modify an Alternative Testing Agreement (ATA):
- After logging in, confirm you are on the “Overview” page.
- In the “Home” navigation box, select “Alternative Testing”.
- Select “Alternative Testing Agreement” on the top right of the screen.
- In the “Navigate to” dropdown menu, select “Courses with Alternative Testing Agreement”. Click “Go”.
- Locate the course for which you would like to modify the ATA and click “View”.
- Here you can update answers to questions 1 and 2 and the contact information.
- Select “Update and View Exam Dates” below the tiles.
- You will see “List of Exam Dates”. Here you can select “Modify” to update the exam dates/times.
- If you need to delete an ATA, please contact our office by email or call us.
Accessing Your AIM Instructor Portal
This guide provides text-based guidance for logging into your AIM Instructor Portal and a brief overview of Instructor actions. This guide is intended for faculty and instructors working with students registered with Services for Students with Disabilities.
Steps to Access the AIM Instructor Portal:
- Open a web browser and go to https://bona.accessiblelearning.com/UNL/Instructor
- When directed, enter your NUID SSO login credentials.
- You will now see your Instructor Portal Dashboard / Overview Page.
Various Actions Through Your Portal:
- Session Extender
- When set to Off, the user will be logged out automatically after a period.
- When set to On, the user will not be logged out of AIM.
- “Home” navigation box
- Overview- instructor’s homepage.
- Add Instructor- add instructors for a course that are not listed with the registrar.
- Alternative Testing- create alternative testing agreements, upload exams, view scheduled exams.
