Student FAQ

Can I still share my old accommodation plan with my faculty/instructors through email or in person?

No, you will need to share your accommodations through AIM. If you have a pre-existing accommodation plan with SSD, those details will already be in AIM when you first log in.

Do I need to meet with my faculty/instructors to discuss my accommodation(s)?

Yes, students are expected to meet with their faculty/instructors to ensure clear communication about accommodations.

Faculty/Instructor FAQ

Is the SSD Testing Center the same as the DLC?

Our testing center and the DLC are two different operations. DLC proctors digital exams for all students, and we proctor paper exams/quizzes for students registered with our office and eligible for testing accommodations.

Do faculty only accept accommodations through this system now? Are emailed and printed copies of their letter not acceptable starting in the fall?

Yes, students will be expected to share their accommodation plans through AIM exclusively. If students share their pdf plans faculty should reply to the student that they need to share their plan through AIM.

Does the list of accommodations students select from for each course only include the options listed in the approved letter?

Yes, students only have access to share accommodations that they are eligible to use as determined by their disability specialist. Instructors will receive notifications when a student shares their plan. It can be saved as a pdf.

Do all exams need to be scheduled through this system or only ones taking place at the SSD Testing Center? E.g. if I have a quiz through Canvas does that need to be entered?

SSD only proctors paper exams and quizzes. The only time faculty need to engage the Alternative Testing Agreement and schedule exams/quizzes is when they want to use our proctoring service. Otherwise, they do not need to engage the Alternative Testing module.
